Facing, Accepting, Embracing…

Change.  Three important things we need to learn about growing up and accepting change is that it is inevitable, sometimes it can be painful and it almost always happens out of the blue.  Expect the unexpected.  More than once in the past few years, I’ve been knocked sideways by the overwhelming changes going on in my life.  I’m progressing in life and there’s this sudden big decision I have to make and… I can’t.  I just can’t.

A lot of times it’s because I was making the mistake of trying to intertwine my life with another, considering their feelings and opinions with my decisions instead of doing what was best for me.  That is incredibly dangerous.  Fleetwood Mac couldn’t have said it better in the song “Landslide”

I’ve been ‘fraid of changing, cuz I built my life around you

How many times have you done that?  Made accommodations for another to find those accommodations sure as hell weren’t made for you in their life.  It hurts, but that’s a lesson.

You have to roll with the punches no matter how hard they  land.  Take it in stride and don’t be afraid of stumbling.  When you’re paralyzed with fear remember that you have no where to go but forward.  Push forward in your life’s goals and never lose sight of what you want.

When you’re facing a decision, make sure you’re doing what’s best for YOU.
